Stories From Stone, an anthology of poetry and prose, inspired by Undercliffe Cemetery gets its world premier on Saturday June 9th.
Writing workshops, led by bestelling author Irene Lofthouse, at cemetery lodge, explored the history and the people that make up this wonderful place. Working within the grounds enabled the writers to reflect, absorb and immerse themselves in the world of Undercliffe Cemetery. The result of all of their hard work is a fascinating
collection that views the site in many different ways.
Irene said ” Facilitating Stories from Stone has been a joy, and a dream fulfilled for 11-year old me. Participants, some who hadn’t tried creative writing before, joined in the activities and research with gusto, exploring the cemetery’s landscape and history. I’ve been blown away by the pieces created through the sessions, and I know that readers of the Anthology will also be impressed. Walk with us as we present our pieces in situ around the cemetery; listen as we re-imagine lives, tell new tales and meet the authors. Then take a walk through the stones and find your own inspiration and stories
The launch starts at 2pm and is a free, family event.
